Research Project
Approaching Energy Landscapes from a Performing-Arts-PErsepctive
Ludwigsburg/Stockholm/Dalarnah 2023/24
Residency in Stockholm and Falun: 28.04.2024 - 24.05.2024
In spring 2023, talks with the Goethe Institute about a planned joint production between the ADK and Dramaten took place in Stockholm. On this occasion, Ludger Engels held several discussions with other institutions and individuals. In response to his wish to get to know possible institutions and specialists that deal with creative spaces in the urban landscape and nature the Goethe Institute recommended Alexander Marek and the LABLAB. In the
first conversation, it quickly became clear that LABLAB's approach of using character analyses of landscapes to generate data in advance of planning for new energy generation is similar to the approach of the Performing-Arts in the preparation of new concepts for performances with the analysis of texts, people and systems. Both are character analyses. It was therefore an obvious question to why Performing-Arts and Landscape Architecture could not work together in order to develop new information and possible new formats for the transfer of knowledge about a region and its inhabitants, and for education and information about a new technology in a region. This gave rise to the research project "Landscapes and People / Imagining Machines in the Garden".
